What's all this about a Presidential Pardon?

If you haven't heard by now, you may not. But literally tens of thousands of Americans have received fund-raising letters over the past few months asking them to sign a petition (and send money) to ask Presidnet Bush to grant a pardon to Michael New. This letter comes from an organization which calls itself Citizens United, and is apparently run by one David Boosie.

First, we want to thank all those who have asked about the letter. Some of you have spotted that it is NOT anything that Michael New has authorized. We had ever heard of David Bossie until this, and having done a bit of internet research, are not impressed with what we learned.

Once again, we must answer the question, "Why not a presidential pardon?"

  1. Because a presidential pardon is virtually unobtainable. But it makes a swell revenue-generating scheme.

  2. Because a presidential pardon involves the removal of guilt for a crime, and Army Spc. Michael New has not committed any crime. He is guilty of loving his country, and is the only American ever court-martialed for wanting to serve his country exclusively. We say that is no crime, and we are still in federal district court where litigation is pending. If we DID want a pardon, it would be premature to seek one.

  3. Because the government committed a crime by ordering American soldiers to serve under foreign commanders in a foreign uniform, and a presidential pardon would let the government off the hook.

  4. Because a presidential pardon would not establish the legal precedent we are seeking -- a court order that protects future American military personnel from this sort of prostituting of their oath and their uniform.
Those circulating this petition for a presidential pardon have never spoken with anyone connected with Michael New or his defense counsel. They apparently have no idea of our legal strategy, nor of the potential damage they may cause. While we don't intend to impugn their motives (yet), it is obvious that the name of Michael New is considered by many to be good for raising money. They are not the first to do this.

You are hereby notified that we receive no funds from this fund-raising effort. "Help us raise money to help Michael New," is a nice phrase, but when it's done by an unauthorized agency, they have already had their lawyers go over the wording to make sure they are not vulnerable to a lawsuit. We're not looking to sue anyone here, we have bigger fish to fry, like the Pentagon. But this confusion does not help the cause of Michael New.

There are currently only two authorized fund-raising addresses for sending support to Michael New, and their addresses are below.

Illustrated Book reduced - let's get it out there!

The comic book is no longer a comic book - it's now an Illustrated Book. And it is, indeed, a collector's item. When did you last see an educational tool that young people actually WANT to read? One reviewer said:
"In fifty years I have never seen a tool like this one - it bridges the generation gap with a powerful message in an appealing format. A work of art."

You know we're not in this to make money, but to get out the message for national sovereignty and American Independence. We're now asking for a donation of $10 or more to cover this book. (You can see it in color at www.mikenew.com/, if you get on the internet.) And $60 will bring you 10 copies. This is no cheap book - 64 pages, full color, heavy card-stock cover in what the printer calls a "perfect binding", creased and glued rather than stapled. You'll be proud of it, and we know now that people who see it definitely want to read it. (We'll pay the postage.)

Do you know a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Coast Guardsman or Marine? If you do, we have a book ready to send them. The classic book, MICHAEL NEW - Mercenary…or American Soldier?? available in a camouflaged cover - it looks like an Army Field Manual. (c: And we'll send one to any active duty or reservist who asks for one. Or you can request one for them! Give us their military address, and we'll ship it direct. If you want us to add their name and an inscription,
"To Jeff, with love, from Mom and Dad," or whatever, we'll be happy to do that, for no charge. These books cost money, and sometimes the postage costs more than the books! So we don't mind a contribution, but it's not contingent on whether we send it out. Just let us know.

And the case lingers on… .

You already know that the case of Army Spc. Michael New is before the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. It's been there for months. The lawyers continue to wrangle over which issues the judge will allow on the table. Naturally, the Army argues that we are in the wrong court, that it is too late, that the case is frivolous, etc. They are pretty good at delaying tactics - it's an old military tactic to avoid getting beat! Dr. Herb Titus heads our team of attorneys who are working with us through the intricate twistings of this case.

We still look for this case to be opened in Federal District Court within 90 days, once the pre-trial maneuvering is over. Without the faithful prayers and sacrificial gifts of many people, we would not still be in this fight. We never forget that, and we thank our Heavenly Father for you, daily.

For a Sovereign Constitutional Republic, once again,
