The New Family Motto, "Veremini Deum; servite homines; obsistite tyrannidem!", translated from Latin to read "Obey God; serve mankind; oppose tyranny!".

When the News lived in the Philippines, they home-schooled, and one of the assignments was to develop a family motto that represented what the family stands for. They discussed a history of the family, and agreed that they wanted it to first of all reflect their faith in God. Next, they felt that their relationship to mankind should be one of service. Lastly, they felt it was not enough to leave out the propensity of their family, in each generation in living memory, going back to the War of Northern Agression, to stand for Freedom against government tyranny. That was a lot to cram into one motto, but they did it!
